The City of Deerfield Beach Environmental Services team would like to advise residents of the City that the annual 2022-2023 Flood Hazard Protection Brochure is being mailed to everyone in or adjacent to a flood zone. The brochure will be arriving after May 9, 2022.
This brochure provides information to property owners on flood maps, flood hazards, flood safety, flood insurance, property protection, hurricane/flood warnings, floodplain development permits, substantial improvement requirements, and drainage system maintenance.
Flood insurance is mandatory in a flood zone if you have a federally backed mortgage. If a homeowner believes their property has been wrongly mapped in a Special Flood Hazard Area, you can submit a current Elevation Certificate to see if it qualifies for a Letter of Map Amendment (LOMA) removal letter. A LOMA is an official amendment, by letter, to an effective FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM).
Residents with inquiries should contact Suzanne in the Engineering Division to check flood zone status and to see if they qualify for a LOMA letter of removal at: firstname.lastname@example.org.
