Preferred Design Selected for SW 10th Street Connector

The City of Deerfield Beach is pleased to announce that after several years of community outreach, meetings, and design changes the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has selected its preferred design for the SR 869/SW 10 Street connector from the Florida Turnpike/Sawgrass Expressway to I-95. Residents are encouraged to watch the video at the bottom of this City News report.

FDOT believes this project will do the following:

  1. Provide improved connectivity of the regional transportation network.
  2. Address local transportation needs for businesses and communities along SW 10th Street.
  3. Provide multimodal, bike, and pedestrian facilities.
  4. Allow for future express bus service.
  5. Increase capacity and eliminate various existing operational and safety deficiencies along SW 10th Street.

The preferred design is expected to be approved by the FDOT Office of Environmental Management this summer. Once that occurs then this project will move into the final design phases. Additional public meetings will be conducted throughout the design and construction of this project. Any questions or comments can be sent to the FDOT Project Manager, his contact information is below:
