Virtual City Commission Meeting – April 7, 2020

YOU ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED that the Regular City Commission meeting will be held on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. utilizing communications media technology with elected officials and City staff participating through video conferencing.

On March 20, 2020, Governor DeSantis issued Executive Order #20-69 suspending any Florida Statute that requires a quorum to be present in person or requires a local government body to meet at a specific public place. The Order further allows for local government bodies to utilize communications media technology, such as telephonic and video conferencing.

A copy of the agenda for the April 7, 2020 meeting can be accessed HERE. In order to ensure compliance with the City’s Safer at Home Emergency Order 2020-03 and the latest CDC recommendations and government orders, the April 7, 2020 regular City Commission meeting will proceed utilizing communications media technology.

Attending and Viewing the City Commission Meeting:

This meeting will be broadcast live for members of the public. There are several options available to the public to attend/view the meeting:

  • Zoom

Zoom is a web-based virtual meeting platform that allows the City Commission, City Staff, and the public to attend in a virtual environment. Zoom may be used with the following web browsers:

  • Microsoft Edge 38.14393. 0.0 or higher
  • Google Chrome 53.0. 2785 or higher
  • Safari 10.0. 602.1. 50 or higher
  • Firefox 49.0 or higher

Zoom will allow for interested persons to attend using either of the following online or telephone options:

  • Via Zoom Online – Access to the meeting will begin at 6:45 PM, on April 7, 2020.
  • Use the link below, which is also available on the homepage of the City’s website at http://www.dfb.city

  • Meeting ID: 224 552 436, Password: 271819
  • The video camera display feature is disabled for public use.
  • Via Zoom Telephone - Join the meeting via telephone (audio only) using the Call-in number below, followed by the Meeting ID when prompted. No computer or access code is required.

The meeting will also be available to the public via YouTube for Audio and Video access. This is like viewing a livestreamed City Commission meeting. The link to watch the meeting via YouTube will be active no earlier than 6:45 p.m. on April 7th 2020 and can be found on the City’s Meeting and Agenda webpage. Clicking the camera icon in the Media column at the following link http://www.deerfield-beach.com/1554/Meetings-Agendas.

Providing Public Comment:

Persons desiring to provide public comment may do so by one of the methods listed below. Please be sure to include your name and address for the record.  Your comments will be limited to three minutes per person. If your comment is specific to an agenda item, please include the agenda item number:

  • Via Email – Public comments and documents may be submitted via email to web.clerk@dfb.city. Comments will be read aloud to the Commission and public and incorporated into the record. Documents will be displayed to the Commission and the public and incorporated into the record. E-mails will be accepted up until the end of the agenda item public comment portion or the public to be heard portion of the meeting, whichever is applicable.
  • Live Zoom Video Participation - If attending via Zoom online, when the meeting gets to the applicable public comment period, click “raise hand” on the bottom of the “participants” tab and your audio will be unmuted when you are recognized.
  • Live Zoom Telephone Participation – If attending via Zoom telephone, when the meeting gets to the applicable public comment period, press *9 to “raise your hand” and your audio will be unmuted when you are recognized.

Any person wishing to appeal any decision made by the City Commission with respect to any matter considered at such meetings or hearings will need a record of the proceedings, and for such purposes may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and the evidence upon which the appeal is made. The above notice is required by State Law (F.S. 286.0105). Anyone desiring a verbatim transcript shall have the responsibility, at his/her own expense, to arrange for a certified court reporter at the hearing.

IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT AND FLORIDA STATUTE 286.26, PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES NEEDING SPECIAL ACCOMMODATION TO PARTICIPATE IN THIS PROCEEDING SHOULD CONTACT THE CITY CLERK NO LATER THAN 3 DAYS PRIOR TO THE MEETING AT (954) 480-4213 FOR ASSISTANCE.
