D4 News

Hello friends,

I would like to wish everyone a safe Independence Day.  July 4 is more than just a day off from work and a time for cookouts.  It is a day to remember the founding of this great nation we call home.  All of the liberties and freedoms we enjoy were declared 243 years ago when we separated from England...and we're still going strong!  To celebrate, join me at our beach this Thursday.  There will be free entertainment from noon until 9:00 p.m.  Then one of South Florida's largest fireworks shows begins at 9:05 p.m.  Due to limited parking on the barrier island, there will be free parking at the Cove Shopping Center, Sullivan Park and St. Ambrose Catholic Church.  Complimentary shuttle service will run from 11:00 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.  There will be NO shuttle service from 5:45 p.m. until 11:00 p.m. due to the closing of the Hillsboro Boulevard Intracoastal bridge.  Shuttle service will resume at 11:00 p.m. and run until midnight.
If you are looking for something interesting tomorrow (June 29), please join me for the "I Want to Bee a Beekeeper" workshop presented by The Urban Beekeepers.  Learn the importance of bees and even how to manage your own hive.  The second half of the workshop will be outside at Deerfield Beach's own apiary.  The workshop is from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Central City Campus (401 SW 4th Street).
I hope to see you around!  Have a great weekend!!

Todd Drosky
Vice Mayor
