D4 News

Hello friends,

I want to personally invite you to the grand opening of the City's apiary tomorrow (June 2) at 9:00 a.m.  The ceremony will take place  at the Central City Campus, 401 S.W. 4th Street.

An apiary is simply a location where beehives of honey bees are kept.  There are only two public apiaries in all of South Florida and Deerfield Beach will have the third location!  Our facility will be unique due to the educational opportunities available to local students and researchers.
Bees are a critical component to Florida's environment.  Without effective pollination, the citrus industry would not be a dominant factor in the economy.  This will be your chance to learn more about bees, how we interact with them, and to lessen the stigma associated with bees.
I hope to see you there.
