This Sunday is Mother's Day, a celebration honoring the mother of the family, as well as motherhood, maternal bonds and the influence of mothers in society. The first Mother's Day was celebrated in 1908 in Grafton, West Virginia. In 1914, President Woodrow Wilson signed a proclamation designating the second Sunday in May as Mother's Day. Today, Mother's Day is the busiest day of the year for long distance telephone calls. So if you can't see mom in person this Sunday, give her a call.
Enjoy your holiday weekend!
