Deerfield Beach to Host Mayor’s Chess Challenge

The City of Deerfield Beach is excited to be one of 19 cities in Broward County to participate in this year’s Mayor’s Chess Challenge. The Parks and Recreation Department will host the Challenge on Saturday, November 18th at the Hillsboro Community Center, 50 Hillsboro Technology Dr., from 10am – 12pm. This free and friendly series, for all ages, draws attention to the benefits of chess in both the academic environment and in our community.

Each Challenge provides an opportunity for players of all ages, novices and experts alike, to join in the fun with local elected officials and community leaders for a friendly competition in support of scholastic chess! Drinks and light snacks will be provided for all participants. Deerfield Beach Parks and Recreation has introduced chess as an activity in its afterschool program this year, and continues to evolve the City’s chess programming.

For additional information, please call the Hillsboro Community Center at (954) 571-7550.
